Terms of Use

Let's Talk GMO ("the Platform") is an independent, non-commercial initiative providing access to peer-reviewed agricultural biotechnology research, policy analysis, and science communication resources for Sub-Saharan Africa. The Platform is operated at letstalkgmo.org.

You may use the Platform if you are at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding agreement. Registered accounts are available to researchers, policymakers, partner organisations, and members of the public with a legitimate interest in agricultural biotechnology.

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, plagiarised, or fabricated research
• Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code of any kind
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its infrastructure
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content without prior written permission
• Use the Platform to harass, threaten, or harm any individual or organisation
• Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
• Impersonate any person, organisation, or the Let's Talk GMO Initiative itself

By submitting a document to the Platform you confirm that:

• The work is your original creation or you hold the necessary rights and permissions to submit it
• The submission does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
• Any human subjects research complies with applicable ethics requirements
• The content is factually accurate to the best of your knowledge

You grant Let's Talk GMO a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, display, and distribute the submitted document on the Platform for the purpose of science communication and public access.

Platform content: Unless otherwise stated, all original content produced by Let's Talk GMO — including text, graphics, logos, and design — is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced without written permission.

Third-party research: Academic papers, policy briefs, and datasets published on the Platform are the intellectual property of their respective authors and institutions. Citations and attribution must follow the academic conventions provided by the Platform's citation generator.

Fair use: Brief quotation for academic, journalistic, or educational purposes with full attribution is permitted.

The Platform provides access to research and information for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing on this Platform constitutes professional, legal, regulatory, or scientific advice for any specific situation.

Research published on the Platform represents the views of the authors and does not necessarily represent the position of the Let's Talk GMO Initiative. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any content.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Let's Talk GMO Initiative shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the Platform shall not exceed USD 100.

The Platform may contain links to external websites. These links are provided for convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

We may update these Terms of Use at any time. The revised terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
